Dubai – Decypha: Majid Al Futtaim Fashion has signed an agreement with Crate and Barrel to operate their Qatar-based stores and showrooms as of April 2017.

The five-year agreement gives Majid Al Futtaim the exclusive right to manage the brand in Qatar, with plans to expand in other countries in the Gulf, the company announced in a press release.

With the deal to be announced during the World Retail Congress to take place from 4-6 April in Dubai, Majid Al Futtaim will enter the home fashion and furniture market for the first time.

The Doha Festival City will home to the first Crate and Barrel 1,500 square meter store in Qatar, scheduled to be opened in Q4 2017.

The store will include indoor and outdoor furniture, housewares, seasonal accessories, lighting systems and exterior furniture.

 Owned by Otto Group of Hamburg, Crate and Barrel was founded in Chicago in the US in 1962 with currently over 100 stores spread worldwide.

Majid Al Futtaim was founded in 1992 in the UAE, owning and operating shopping mall, retail and leisure entities in the Middle East and North Africa region, currently existing in 15 markets.
